Athena Bitcoin to Integrate Lightning Network for Bitcoin ATMs in El Salvador

Athena Bitcoin has announced plans to integrate the Lightning Network into its crypto ATM fleet in El Salvador with wider expansion targeted at the entire Latin American region.

In a Nov 7 press release, the company revealed it has enabled the technology in partnership with Genesis Coin Inc. to all its infrastructure in the country giving users a faster and overall better experience.

The network will be integrated into 100 cryptocurrency ATMs within the next two months with further plans to extend the service to more countries.

Open Interest for futures on CME surpass 100.000 BTC

In a significant development, the open interest in Bitcoin (BTC) futures, specifically those offered by the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), has witnessed a notable surge.

Meanwhile, this surge in open interest not only reflects increasing engagement in Bitcoin futures trading but also hints at potential shifts in the broader cryptocurrency market.

According to Coinglass data, the open interest in CME’s BTC futures, which is closely watched by institutional investors, has soared by 6.14% within the past 24 hours, reaching an impressive $3.89 billion.

Notably, the total CME BTC open interest has exceeded the 100,000 BTC mark, standing at 109.81k BTC at the time of writing.

Robinhood to expand to the EU and potentially relist the tokens removed in June

Robinhood is planning an expansion into the EU, according to CEO Vlad Tenev. He answered a number of questions during the third quarter earnings call on Tuesday, November 7, including what were his thoughts on the performance of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the rest of the crypto market.

The CEO did not specify when Robinhood will officially enter the EU market, but he said it could be expected in the “coming weeks.”

The company has been preparing for the expansion throughout the summer, such as hiring staff in the UK ahead of the expansion.
